Contemporary Synagogue Architecture
Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim, California, and Temple Solel, in
Paradise Valley, Arizona, give the viewer an appreciation of the beauty
and art found in many contemporary synagogues. The images below are from
color photographs sent by members of these congregations for this
exhibit in November 1994.
Temple Beth Emet moved from its Emily Street location in
downtown Anaheim to its present location at 1770 W. Cerritos Avenue in
1963. Temple Solel is located at 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise
Valley, Arizona 85257.

reflecting religious themes. Viewers will recognize the shofar, which
is sounded at Rosh Hashanah, and the Ten Commandments.

Although more abstract than traditional stained glass renderings,
viewers can see the Parting of the Red Sea theme in Temple Solel's
beautifully designed stained glass window.
